URDC On the Trail in Maryland

The Wicomico-Salisbury Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) selected URDC to  prepare a Hiker & Biker Trail Plan for the Salisbury, Maryland region.  Salisbury is located along the Eastern Shore of Maryland, a half hour west of Ocean City and two hours south of Baltimore.

Our firm will inventory existing trails in the study area, identify weaknesses and gaps in the trail system, and propose solutions to address these deficiencies.  We will look for opportunities to promote more inter-modal travel, such as accommodating bikes on local buses and establishing more bike racks at key public parking lots.

 A key focus will be on implementation: how to acquire needed rights of way; how to employ best practices design standards; how to prioritize needs; and how to secure necessary funding.
